And yes, "Appa's Lost Days" still makes me cry like a baby.
Having watched (or would it be re-watched since I saw these episodes already when they first aired?) volume 4 of Avatar: The Last Airbender Book 2, I now have the urge to cosplay as Azula in Earth Kingdom clothes. I love the clothing worn in the Earth Kingdom. ♥ The somewhat muted color palette (browns, greens, and yellows) and the layers of clothing worn appeal to me. I'm going to sound like I've been watching way too much "What Not To Wear", but I love the concept of layering and being able to remove articles of clothes while still having on a complete outfit. And hey, Zuko? You look mighty fine in the clothes you wore in Ba Sing Se. WEAR THEM MORE OFTEN.
I also think it would be fun if I could somehow convince a group of friends to dress up as the Dai Li with me. The idea of skulking around like they do at a convention is amusing.

Episode commentaries are interesting to watch since there's always little tidbits of information or comments on the creation of characters and their back-stories that bring so much more to the series. I like hearing about all that stuff that might be considered boring to others, like the writing process for an episode, or what provided the basis for something. But most of all, hearing the creators basically get all excited over their own show makes me smile.
So, these are a few quotes that I thought were really funny from the commentary for "Lake Laogai". Oh, in case you happen to be reading this and don't know who these people are, Mike and Bryan are the co-creators of Avatar, and Tim is the writer for this episode.
From the scene where Zuko dressed up as the Blue Spirit is being chased down an alley by the Dai Li.
And when Appa skips Long Feng across Lake Laogai:
*I actually takes me quite a while to associate people to their voices when I can't see them. Mike's voice has a vaguely scratchy quality to it, so its fairly easy for me to know when he's talking during the commentary. Bryan and Tim have different sounding voices, but I still can't distinguish who's who in that line! And I listened to that scene over and over again like a million times!
The same goes for the Venture Bros creators, Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer; it wasn't until I was partway through the season two commentary that the voice-to-person recognition finally clicked with me. ...Its kind of ridiculous really, since they sound totally different. GAH!
WHY DON'T I HAVE ANY AVATAR ICONS. Man, I can't wait for the next season. ♥
EDIT. According to the free issue of Animerica I got at Best Buy the other day, the Japanese film Ping Pong is being released by Viz next month. Awesome! I LOVE THIS MOVIE. And yay, I can finally replace that crappy VCD version I have.

- Mike: I just like the idea that Zuko's in his apartment stitching up this little Blue Spirit stuffed mask.
[all laugh]
Mike: He's pretty good with the crafts.
Bryan (or Tim?)*: He's quite a seamstress.
And when Appa skips Long Feng across Lake Laogai:
- Mike: I like how quiet it is when he skips across the water.
Tim: Its very peaceful, like maybe Appa would just be doing that on a sunny day by himself. Just skipping people across a pond.
