Life moves on like a conveyor belt.

Today I:
    (1) Went to the doctor for a nerve conduction study on my legs
    (2) Got a haircut
    (3) Nearly fainted at the hair salon D: D: D:

Feeling like you're going to pass out in a public place should probably make the day a complete bust, but the NCS wasn't all that bad and, well, the haircut was something I really needed, so I guess the day was . . . eh, okay. [apathetically inclined]

If you remember a post of mine from a few weeks ago, I mentioned experiencing a numb sensation throughout my right leg a few times, so today's NCS was done to check out the nerves in my legs and back. Basically electrodes are attached to whatever area the technician is going to check (obviously legs in my case), and the peripheral nerves and muscles are given electrical stimulation in order to measure . . . something. IDK. I KINDA STOPPED PAYING ATTENTION AT THE 'HEY WE'RE GONNA SHOCK YOU' PART. The doctor-guy was really nice, so it wasn't that uncomfortable; well, when he did it repeatedly in one area it was (which only happened once). At one point he used acupuncture needles to get a better reading in my right calf and that, too, wasn't painful.

As far as very minor electrocution goes, it wasn't that bad. A+++, would do again.

I had also been worried that I'd lost weight (I'm already underweight for my size as it is, and my doctor gives me the look of doom whenever I lose a couple of pounds; its not deliberate, Dr. M! it only happens when I'm feeling unwell!) especially since I haven't felt that hungry lately, but I had, in fact, gained nearly a pound. Hurray!

My immune system hasn't been so great lately, so going to the hair salon right afterward probably wasn't the best idea. Especially since I'm experiencing the worst nasal congestion ever and being leaned backwards to have my hair washed just made things worse. D:

But anyway, as I mentioned in yet another post a few weeks ago, a haircut is something I really needed. Its been so long since my last visit to a salon, and there were so many split ends to get rid of. Also, my mom has been on case about it for weeks since long hair drives her crazy and I think she hopes that one day I'll just chop it all off in some cute, short style like Julianne Nicholson or Holly Kiser. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to do that, one day.

I was really tired from both the doctor's visit and the very little sleep I had gotten so I just went for a trim (around 3-4" were cut off) and a bunch of layering. The blow drying and straightening of my hair took longer than the actual cutting did. "You have a lot of hair!" the stylist exclaimed at several points, and boy, she wasn't kidding. I'm being completely serious when I say that, despite how little length she took off, there was enough hair sitting on the floor to make myself wig or something. Maybe a nice hair coat for one of my kitties. XD

...

I guess I should mention the "almost fainting" part now shouldn't I? Like I said, I was really tired and congested and normally when I feel bad I'll either lay on my bed or walk around the house a bit. Well, I can't just stretch out on the salon floor because I'm feeling bad, now can I? D: I think it was the heat from the blow dryer that caused it; it made my nostrils feel all dry and my head all hot and suddenly my vision started to spin. I hate feeling like I'm going to faint and I'll do anything I can to not faint. So, like I do when I have anxiety attacks, I just rode it out; sipping from my water bottle, inhaling and exhaling slowly, telling myself "This'll pass soon, she's almost done with my hair anyway" over and over again. It probably something that doesn't work for everybody, but it works for me for some strange reason. I still felt vaguely unwell by the time I left, but I was okay.

And before anyone gets alarmed, I took a nice nap and drank a lot of water once my mom and I returned home. [currently feeling much better]
