UGO Entertainment acquires 1UP and its associated sites.
Despite the light-hearted feel of the article on 1UP it appears there will be a lot of changes made there. From what I've read on Joystiq (here) all but a couple of their podcasts are no more, a number of their staff, including key members of the 1UP Network, have been let go, and with its January 2009 issue EGM will be cease publication.
I am so bummed right now. EGM has been part of my life since as long as I can remember--my brother still has issues from the early 90's--and 1UP has always been one of my favorite video game sites. [sigh]
I'm gonna miss you EGM. I'm gonna miss you 1UP staffers. Best of luck to those of you who were laid off.
But hey, here's something that cheered me up just a little--just a little: Patapon Tattoo. Ha! They're marching there way across his shoulder.
