I'm about a fourth of the way through with Bram Stoker's Dracula and wow, it is a great book. (Well, I should probably wait to make a judgment until after I'm done reading, but I'm finding it so enjoyable!) There's this eerie tension to Stoker's writing; he builds up the suspense and then--BAM--the story switches to a different scene and you're left in this sudden calm. This sounds like it would be annoying, but Stoker seems to have such an ease with this writing style.

I find it interesting that the story is told through journal entries/letters/ newspaper clippings/etc. Its rather neat to to see everything through different points of views and through different character rather than through just one.

Although I do find myself hearing Keanu Reeves' voice in my head as I read Jonathan Harker's parts, mostly because I've watched the Francis Ford Coppola version of the movie and he's the most recent Harker I remember. KEANUUUUUU!

× 50 Most Hated Characters in Literary History. Copy/paste from my tumblr: The literature nerd in me was in heaven over this list. Yeah, there are a few characters listed that seem there for completely wtf reasons (Beth from Little Women? Hamlet? Who can hate Hamlet?!). The list is also rather hilariously ranked: Bella and Edward from Twilight are number one, and Satan—yes, that’s right, Satan—is number 50. YOU ARE WORSE THAN SATAN, TWILIGHT CHARACTERS. But its a really interesting list and enjoyable to go through.

× 7 abandoned architectural wonders of modern Asia is really amazing. The Ryugyong Hotel in North Korea is imposingly creepy! I kinda get the heebie jeebies looking at it. And I found the Pod City in Taiwan rather quaint. For more interesting abandoned areas, check out the related links at the end.
