I got all rage-y today over various things, so I have a feeling the overall tone of this post might come off as apathetic since I feel worn out right now.
First lets get nail polish swatches and WIWT pics out of the way.

Butter London's Blagger.

Butter London's Snog. (original post with info about the two colors)
WIWT: December 6th:

× Journalist has twitter account suspended for talking too much about Occupy Wall Street, SOPA, and NDAA. Updates from this link show that the journalist did have his account restored (earlier today it wasn't), but the fact that he, as well as other users who blog/tweet about OWS, SOPA, and NDAA were suspended as well is shady and fucked up. It reeks of trying to silence individuals trying to get info out there when the media has provided very little coverage on these issues that are important to life here in the United States.
× Very well done summary of the Korean position of the Comfort Women, who recently staged their 1000th protest in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul. An article on this issue showed up on
aramatheydidnt and it was infuriating how some lj users were completely up Japan's ass and refusing to see how Japan's handling of this has been half-assed and how wrongs that have been done have been basically ignored. Ugh, I'm getting mad thinking about those comments all over, take a tip from me and do not look for the entry on Arama.
× This series of images shows how a handful of urban locations around the world compare to each other when it comes to street networks and patterns. Some of the comparisons are very striking.
× How to cook perfect rice without a rice cooker.
× Lifehacker's most popular How-To guides of 2011. Just to name a few of the articles: how to build your own computer from scratch, learn to code, guide to saving money on monthly expenses by looking at your bills.
× Similar post from Lifehacker: most popular Top 10s of 2011 | most popular photography tips, tricks, and hacks of 2011
× Holiday shopping gift ideas from various Gawker sites. Some ideas are obviously for the lulz, but I actually like some of them: passive aggressive gifts for jerks | gifts for people you hate (ngl I'd enjoy books from junior high reading lists) | gifts for crafty types (custom print fabric looks amazing) | gifts for design snobs | gifts for other people's kids (I sooooo want the pyramid archaeology kit and architecture line from LEGO)
× Reduce foot pain with these alternative lacing techniques.
× Chart shows just how far you can tip your instant noodles before it tips over completely and burns you. It seems the shorter, wider container allow a greater degree of tipping compared to the taller, skinnier containers.
× 5 Alternatives to Paypal. With all the criticism Paypal gets (i.e. like the recent Regretsy controversy) its probably good to know of the alternatives out there. From reading the comments, users also recommend checking out Dwolla, WePay, Venmo. I'll definitely be doing more research into these alternatives!
× Art: Triptychs of Strangers by Adde Adesokan. Very cool. Check out the flickr stream for even more photos.
× Video: Leaping cockroaches can leap 50 times their body length. SCREAMING.
× All you need to know about what happens when you fall in lava. Hint: its never shown right in the movies.
× Design: Photorealistic carpet brings nature into your home. I really like the picture that looks like a hallway path of rocks.
× how to clean every room in your home with items you already have.
× 10 bizarre names and strange origins of real molecules.
× Art: Feel-O-Meter, an art installation in Germany, uses facial recognition software to scan the expressions of pedestrians and reflect it on a giant face
× 10 animal astronauts. I recently read Mary Roach's book on space, so this post was interesting to read since her book had a chapter of animals launched into space, some of which are mentioned in the io9 article.
× Art: A Dash of Van Gogh is a homage to Van Gogh's works created with spices and food coloring.
× Largest collection of Isaac Newton's papers are now available digitally online
× Video: tiny octopus that fits in palm of hand is cute.
× How Game of Thrones Dothraki language came to be.
× Artist Zac Gorman posts a Sonic the Hedgehog image with 'I think it'd be cute if Sonic ran like an idiot' written above it, and fellow artists respond with their own Sonic art. So silly.
× Art: metal work of Darth Vader is awesome
× 10 pieces of ancient graffiti. The #1 graffiti made me laugh really hard.
× Nerds and Male Privilege. This article showed up on various video game sites, but I chose to link to it on ontd-political since the comments on Kotaku/etc are a festering pool of misogyny that (mostly) refuse to see the point the article is making.
× How to avoid getting screwed over during textbook buyback season. I really need to remember this article when I get back on track with school.
× This fashion blog proves that you don't have to give up style as you age.
× Video: Waterway in China turns red due to chemical dumping. The color is rather unsettling to look at.
× Let's roll back to the 1990's with these banners of heartthrobs from that decade. Man, this is certainly a stroll down memory lane.
× Top 10 'body hacks', or ways to give you power over your body. The tip on how to swallow stubborn pills is really useful for me since I have sooo much trouble taking pills.
× Art: Li Wei's best non-photoshopped shots of 2011.
