So, Academy Awards. I can never seem to type out anything coherent, so here, have babble!
------
I'm tempted to buy this Theodore Mewsevelt button (from the webcomic Thinkin' Lincoln) even if it is on the creepy side. XD
- First off, Ellen Degeneres: She did a pretty good job at hosting this year. At first I thought she was a bit on the boring side, but when I was remembering the show I honestly can't think of anything bad to say. I'm glad she was her warm, charming self and stuck to her brand of humor rather than the political humor (which I'm not particularly a fan of) that has been prevalent in previous Oscars. Favorite moment: when she went out into the audience and had Steven Spielberg take a picture of her with Clint Eastwood. STEVEN SPIELBERG. TAKING A PICTURE. I was seriously laughing so hard I was gasping for breath. My sense of humor is lame!
- The silhouette acting troupe (I think they're called Pilobolus?) was awesome. When they did the Snakes on a Plane logo? My brother and I were dying. SO COOL. My other favorite was when they formed James Bond's gun and something actually shot out! Still trying to figure out how they did that. [in total awe of them]
- Once again, Will Ferrell brightened up the show with a hilarious musical performance (with Jack Black and John C. Reilly). I don't know if its up on youtube or not, but watch it if you can. ♥
- "Could you double-check the envelope?" Oh, Martin Scorsese, you've finally won your Oscar. No longer are you the Susan Lucci of the Academy Awards. Though, I was surprised when The Departed won for Best Picture.
- Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt were two of my favorite presenters for the night. They were onstage doing the presentation for Best Costuming when they suddenly went into character for The Devil Wear Prada and were speaking to Meryl Strep as if she was going to rip their throats out ("Did you forget to get Meryl her latte?" "...I thought you were getting it." Cue the both of them fidgeting and attempting to placate Meryl). SO GREAT. Especially since Meryl was giving them that icy stare. Ahahahaha! LOVE.
- Favorite outfits: Nicole Kidman, Helen Mirren (she was so elegant!), J. Lo, Cate Blanchett, Reese Witherspoon, and a few other actresses I can't recall at the moment.
- Jennifer Hudson's red carpet dress with the metallic bolero was definitely a mistake (the bolero that is). And I would have liked Anne Hathaway's dress better if it didn't have that large bow in the front.

Date: 2007-03-01 02:12 am (UTC)I find it funny that I love watching the Academy Awards so much even though I don't go to the theaters that often. (And you know all the nominees for Best Picture? I haven't watched any of those movies! XD) This year I'm going to try and go to the movies more often. I already want to see 300, Pan's Labyrinth, and Black Snake Moan.
