"She said it to me, 'I want to sleep...someplace where no sound can reach me.'"

Went to a poetry lecture/reading by John Jenkinson today. Not because I wanted to, but because the instructor told us to meet there. Most of you know that I'm not exactly a poetry person, but it was okay. Though I kept on getting a little tickle in my throat which annoyed me so much since having a coughing fit, especially one in public, is horrible. The lecture was also being taped, so I'm glad I was able to avert sounding like I was hacking up a lung.

He read " South of Red-Wing", "Earth as a Place of Burial", "Why Orville & Wilbur Built an Airplane", "Rebekah Orders Lasagna" (which was long), and one other shorter piece I can't remember the name of. About halfway through the Rebekah one I started drifting off (my attention span for poetry isn't very long, haha), but I had to force myself to stay awake since the instructor (who is a poetry lover) decided to sit directly behind me and the bro. It's too bad I didn't have any cash on me to buy one of his books since being able to follow along while he was reading would have been nice.

TV talk! Brief comments!

Ugly Betty: Man, Mark's mother pissed me off so much. And Daniel too. He gave up so easily.

ANTM -- I don't get why they're keeping Whitney there. To me her photos are mediocre at best. Renee's personality grates on my nerves. She takes pretty photos, but that bitchy attitude makes me wish she was cut next. Um, um, I had more to say, but I'm tired and all their names just flew out of my head. XD

And, dammit, Scrubs! You made me cry!

Thoughts on manga I've started reading:

Mushishi -- I like the quiet nature of this one. The first volume was sitting on my shelf for over a month, but the opening story "The Green Gathering" immediately pulled me in (other favorites were "The Soft Horns" and "The Traveling Bog"). The stand-alone quality of the chapters, rather than it having a large story-arc, is another thing I like. Also, Ginko vaguely reminds me of Kakashi from Naruto in that bland expression he's constantly wearing.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! -- Oh how I love a series that doesn't try to take itself seriously! I wasn't interesting in checking out this one at first since the cover of volume 1 is awful (sometimes its the cover of the book that makes me want to pick it up off the shelf and browse through it), but since someone kept mentioning it in their posts I put aside my dislike of the cover art and decided to give it a chance. And I'm glad I did! The storyline is fun and its full of an interesting cast of characters, some of which are just full of crack (Reborn and Lambo anyone?). XD

Yakitate!! Japan -- It involves baking. I'm in love.

I've only just now noticed that my desk is positioned in a ceiling fan "dead zone". ARGH. [hates the heat]
