1.) You never get too old to be experience secondhand embarrassment via a parent. My mom and her boyfriend kept on jokingly threatening to take a nap in the numerous chairs and beds there. And I was all NOOOOOOOOO since my mom falls asleep super fast and is a LOUD snorer and omg all the people there!

Then later on at the kitchen section Mom's Boyfriend stood at the oven in one display and Mom at another across the aisle and were all "HEY WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR BREAKFAST?" "PORK CHOPS!" "OKAY LET'S MAKE PORK CHOPS!" and wouldn't stfu about pork chops. omg I don't know you loud people, let me jam myself into one of these kitchen cabinets please.

As [personal profile] nijibug would say: Oh mom |D

2.) Like 5 or so years ago I bought two of Ikea's Expedit shelving units; one that has 20 cubby holes, and another that has 25. I'd grown increasingly unsatisfied with them since they are fairly ineffective at holding my book collection. They look nice here, but now that I have much more books the width of the cubby holes is a pain when it comes to book organization. But! The Ikea trip and seeing how they used the Expedit shelves in their room displays really helped me like them again. I had planned on keeping the smaller one and getting rid of the bigger one, but now I'm keeping both and buying inserts that allow the cubbies to have doors or turn into drawers.

Oh yeah, when I went to Half-Price books the other day, there was a sign in the Young Adult section that said "If you enjoyed Stephanie Meyer's Twilight you might also like the following authors..." with this long list beneath it. I shit you not, the first name listed was Clive Barker. CLIVE BARKER. You know, he of the Hellraiser film series.

Admittedly, I've never read any of Barker's books, but if they're anything like the Hellraiser series, I'm cracking myself up imagining the look of horror on a Twilight reader's face when they decide to check out one of his books.

And now: the link recs I've been procrastinating on posting here!

Links.

× Video: Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa completes a painting of Big Boss/Snake live at an exhibit at the Konami Style store in Tokyo. Impressive! At first I had no idea what he was painting, but by the end I was like "whoaaaaaa". Seriously, its amazing.

× Introductory post to the variety of female head coverings of the Islamic world. Informative and Interesting. The batula was the face covering most fascinating to me (Google image for "Omani burqa" "Bedouin burqa" or "gulf burqa" for more info on it since batula really links to nothing).

× Computer attacks you've never heard of, a useful article from Lifehacker.

× Parents Shouldn't Text makes me glad my mom has no interest in texting me.

× I had no idea Lucille Ball timed her real life c-section with the airing of Little Ricky's birth episode of her show! One of my favorite episodes (minus Ricky in, er, "voodoo" makeup). The subject line of this post is what Ricky says when its time for Lucy to go to the hospital. XD

× From Pink Tentacle: Czech and Polish posters for Japanese monster films are really awesome looking. | Rabbit New Year cards

× For $2,000 you can have a wet suit that looks like a plug suit from Evangelion.

× My new favorite site for wallpaper: Simple Desktops

× Former chemical weapons factory becomes rabbit paradise. The videos are very cute. (found via [personal profile] mklutz)

× Video: Cats looooove soda boxes. I made a crazy squealing noise around 0:20 when the cat in the box showed its face. Eeeeee, ♥ One of my biggest cats enjoys playing in soda boxes, which amuses us to no end because, seriously, HOW DOES SUCH A GIANT FIT IN THERE. (Video found also via MK)

I have a bunch of tumblelog recs, but tumblr is being pissy and refusing to load for me. Next time!

Remind me never to go to Half-Price Books when I want to "just browse around". I end up coming home with the most random pile of items; my brother says its like I walked in and blindly grabbed stuff off of the shelves. This is what I bought!

Photobucket

Japanese and Arabic language books, an art book on the Pre-Raphaelites, The Nazis and the Occult (I'm placing the blame of this purchase on the History Channel), and The Phantom Menace and the pilot episode to Beverly Hills 90210 on VHS. Yes, VH-FUCKING-S. My bro wanted them lol.

Bookstores make me so giddy, you guys. Books! I love them.

A few more What-I-Wore-Today-type shots and also one of my cat. )

I'll get around to posting the link recs I've been collecting soon. Too lazy right now.

I ordered a Siwon fanbook off of ebay, and when I received the package and opened it I let out such a laugh. I wasn't expecting any freebies, so seeing a pair of socks of SNSD member Tiffany was a surprise. They're cute. Although I probably won't ever wear them since I prefer socks of a longer length.

+9 more random pics, including the cover of the fanbook, a couple of other freebies I got and more. )

I'll put up another Suju pic-spam soon! I've just been a little lazy lately about going through my external drive and selecting images.

× Sarah Burton certainly had tough shoes to fill as successor to much beloved, deceased fashion designer Alexander McQueen, but her first womenswear collection was nothing short of stunning. No lie, I was gasping as I scrolled through the photos.

× Video: Girl morphs into Jared Leto through the use of make-up. Its crazy how contouring and shading can completely transform her appearance.

× Tumblelog Rec: Fuck Yeah Ghost Towns. Very eerie and informative.

× 10 redesigned movie posters inspired by an iconic costume used in the movie. Its rather amazing how the title of the movies could be left off the posters and yet they would still be easily recognizable. Clear button-up raincoat (plus ax)? American Psycho. Twin pair of blue dresses, white knee-socks and black Mary Janes? The Shining.

× Keita Takahashi, Katamari Damacy creator, announces new company after leaving Bandai Namco. The name is unusual--Uvula--but the logo is pretty awesome.

× What Boos Are Made Of, a very cool t-shirt design.

Whoops, I've been neglecting updating here, haven't I? Honestly, nothing worth posting about has been going on.

Well, I did just finish watching the kdrama Oh! My Lady and OMG I LOVED IT. I've been posting screencaps and spazzing over it all over tumblr and twitter. Great series, definitely recommended. Would ramble about it now, but every time I try to type out something, all that comes out is LSFJELFJKFDLFJALJ;A and SIWONNNN other keysmashing since just thinking about it renders me incoherent.

The subject line is a quote from Oh! My Lady, by the way. Random quote for a random entry.

× Social Mindfield: when a friend offends offers tips on how to deal with sticky social situations.

× This hand-knit sweater with 8-bit Mario and Luigi on the front is really cool looking. But for the $400 price I'd rather just knit one myself.

× Orangutan adopts lion cubs at a South Carolina zoo. Cue the squeals, guys. Possible odd animal friendship in the making. MY FAVORITE. ♥

× In cosplay news, this Gundam is amazing. As for the lady, those high cut unitards must be a pain in the ass (pun intended) to wear.
