And I have nothing better to do sit around watching an NCIS marathon and put together a links rec post. Merry Christmas, everyone. ♥

× This is completely late since I have a feeling I'll finish typing out this post after midnight, but: how to wrap the best gifts without breaking the bank, how to wrap the perfect present.

× Gawker asks what's the worst Christmas gift you've gotten, the resulting comments are hilarious and horrifying. (Click on "all" on the discussion thread section to check out all the comments. They are a treasure trove and a train wreck at once)

× Creative uses for wrapping paper is really useful post-Christmas if you've like me and have a shitload of wrapping paper left over.

× Katamari Christmas tree is too cool. I want it!

× I promise you not every link rec is Christmas related. Most that are under this cut aren't! )

× Little-known material Erionite found to cause a rare and lethal form of cancer, Mesothelioma. I'd never heard of this mineral before so this is fascinating. And a little scary.

× 10 stubborn food myths that won't die, debunked by science.

× The best and worst celebrity wax figures at Madame Tussauds. Some are uncannily real. That Helen Mirren! Its hard to tell which is the real one. Some are super terrible. Its a wonder they even got ok-ed for display. And because they are hilarious bad: here's more terrible celebrity wax figures.

× Call goes out for "penguin jumpers" to help out the penguins caught in an oil spill off the east coast of New Zealand and knitters around the world come to the rescue. They now have more than enough, although donations are still being encouraged for the future.

× 1001 uses for distilled white vinegar. So many uses! It's definitely going to be my go-to product for cleaning. I hate using chemical household cleaners (and apparently even cleaning products like Green Works aren't so eco-friendly) , so knowing that I can simply use vinegar (combined with baking soda at times) to clean around the house makes me excited.

I have such a backlog of photos to post here. Mainly just random ones that have been sitting on my hard-drive. Let's start with some of the merch I bought at A-Kon!

× Crazy military experiments are so crazy. From dolphins trained to attack enemy ships with explosives to Goo Guns, its insane the types of ideas that made it to development.

× Kotaku calls these iPad mods 'bizarre', I call them awesome. I like the Macintosh Classic one a ridiculous amount.

× An Arashi-themed textbook wuuutttttt. Apparently it aims to "teach children about the beauty of Japan and Japanese culture, and to encourage them to visit different parts of Japan". The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has already been overwhelmed by fans calling in to request the textbook.

× Princess Peach portrait created from over a thousand plastic bottle caps.

× Rainbow Roses are real, and really amazing. I found this via [personal profile] mklutz, and I stared at the pictures forever.

× I would totally buy this Gundam phone. Because it so cool looking. Also: I am a Gundam dork. /sobbing

× I've seen some pretty unusual markings on cats (my favorite being a cat-shaped spot. Cue the Xzibit voice-over, "Yo dawg, I heard you liked cats, so I put a cat on your cat..."), but this cat has the word 'cat' on its fur!

× This tutorial shows how to re-create the skull cut-out from Pleasure Principle sweaters onto your own clothing. Very cool.

× Pink Tentacle posts pictures from Good Design Expo 2010 held in Tokyo--I die and go to design heaven. ♥

× Want to know how to make a Silent Hill nurse mask? A tutorial for you!

× How about a Super Mario picnic. Sorry Mario, your picnic is in another park.

× Eveything you wanted to know about Fashion Week, but were afraid to ask, a sort of primer from Jezebel.

× Sharpie is coming out with a liquid pencil this month. Or has it come out already? Anyway, I'm really excited by this, since I've obviously a big ol' dork.

× Anyone else watching On The Road with Austin and Santino? If not, here are reasons why its an awesome show. Two designers from my favorite season ever of Project Runway, LOOOOOVE~

Whoops, I've been neglecting updating here, haven't I? Honestly, nothing worth posting about has been going on.

Well, I did just finish watching the kdrama Oh! My Lady and OMG I LOVED IT. I've been posting screencaps and spazzing over it all over tumblr and twitter. Great series, definitely recommended. Would ramble about it now, but every time I try to type out something, all that comes out is LSFJELFJKFDLFJALJ;A and SIWONNNN other keysmashing since just thinking about it renders me incoherent.

The subject line is a quote from Oh! My Lady, by the way. Random quote for a random entry.

× This hand-knit sweater with 8-bit Mario and Luigi on the front is really cool looking. But for the $400 price I'd rather just knit one myself.

× In cosplay news, this Gundam is amazing. As for the lady, those high cut unitards must be a pain in the ass (pun intended) to wear.
