WIWT pics for Oct 8, 13 and 20. Plus a doggy picture. )

× Little-known material Erionite found to cause a rare and lethal form of cancer, Mesothelioma. I'd never heard of this mineral before so this is fascinating. And a little scary.

× Photo gallery of Jeju Love Land, an erotic sculpture park in South Korea. More images at this flickr feed.

× 10 stubborn food myths that won't die, debunked by science.

× The best and worst celebrity wax figures at Madame Tussauds. Some are uncannily real. That Helen Mirren! Its hard to tell which is the real one. Some are super terrible. Its a wonder they even got ok-ed for display. And because they are hilarious bad: here's more terrible celebrity wax figures.

× Street Fighter II painting on a fingernail. Wow!

× Photographer captures images of a lioness rescuing her cub after it fell down a ravine. Such tense and touching photos.

× Video: Peel a head of garlic in less than 10 seconds. This video blew my mind!

× Recipe: Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie n’ Oreo Fudge Brownies

× Lair of ancient 'Kraken' sea monster possibly discovered.

× A reader asks Lifehacker what foods don't need to be refrigerated and they respond with examples plus more. Like, what can be refrigerated although you don't have to, and what food items should always be refrigerated.

× A bit of info from Jezebel on why there are bumps on areolae. Thought this was important to link to since I know some women aren't aware that these bumps are completely normal.

× The Fat Monkey is a sculpture in Sao Paolo, Brazil, created from 1,000 flip flops. Its really cute.

× Tips from Lifehacker on how to keep your computer secure at the office.

× More from Jezebel's 'Worth It' feature: Bronner's Soap | moisturizer (Remember to click "all" next to "discussion threads" to be able to see more recs from users on the site. )

× Videos: fanmade videos celebrate the 25th anniversary of Legend of Zelda. These videos were created on the Flipnote application on the Nintendo DSi! That's pretty incredible.

× How to deal with judgy doctors.

× Super Mario Bros. themed restroom is amazing

× Slideshow of nature images by the winners of the 2011 f Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

× Call goes out for "penguin jumpers" to help out the penguins caught in an oil spill off the east coast of New Zealand and knitters around the world come to the rescue. They now have more than enough, although donations are still being encouraged for the future.

× 1001 uses for distilled white vinegar. So many uses! It's definitely going to be my go-to product for cleaning. I hate using chemical household cleaners (and apparently even cleaning products like Green Works aren't so eco-friendly) , so knowing that I can simply use vinegar (combined with baking soda at times) to clean around the house makes me excited.

× Postcrossing is a very awesome project brought to my attention by [profile] michachan. From the site:
The goal of this project is to allow people to receive postcards from all over the world, for free. Well, almost free! The main idea is that: if you send a postcard, you will receive at least one back from a random Postcrosser from somewhere in the world.

I haven't had a chance to sign up yet, but I'm so looking forward to it. ♥

× Japanese kick boxer Yuichiro "Jienotsu" Nagashima cosplays as female characters in the ring, kicks ass while doing so. In a recent bout he skipped his usual Touhou Project outfits and came out dressed as Sachiel, an angel from Neon Genesis Evangelion, while his ringside entourage cheered him on dressed in plug suits. Not gonna lie, I would love to see one of his matches in person.

× Video: Zelda on Paper is a stop-animation of short Zelda clips using construction paper. The animation is very (very) simplistic, but its still pretty funny.

× This article on Instructables shows you how to make a shock-resistant camera case out of that squishy shelf liner stuff. I think the end result is pretty cool looking.

× Cutest Chun Li cosplay ever.

× New species discovered in the deep sea. Hilariously, at least half of them sorta resemble sex toys.

× A favela in Rio is turned into a rainbow-hued fantasy world by Dutch artists. Absolutely gorgeous.

× I've probably linked to this before, but I'm sharing it again since I think its amazing. Handmade Loco Roco plushies!

× Video: The creation of a 4-foot tall papercraft Gundam in under 4 minutes. I got worn out building a small Solid Snake in a box, so I admire this person's dedication.

× These toys by Bandai transform from kanji into the animals they represent. "The shape-shifting critters, called Mojibakeru (moji means “character” and bakeru means “to change”), come in six varieties — 犬 (dog), 虎 (tiger), 魚 (fish), 馬 (horse), 鳥 (bird) and 竜 (dragon)." Neat. And they only cost $1!

× 25 best cameos in video games. I had so many "Ah! I remember that!" moments while reading through the list.

× The real people behind famous fictional characters is an interesting and very fascinating read.

× I want these Okami and Okamiden sculptures! They are stunning.

× This article showing the best and worst of Paris Couture week is amazing omg. I'm absolutely in love with John Galliano's flower inspired designs for Dior. If only those sorts of clothing could be pulled off in real life! Elie Saab's eveningwear is also very beautiful.

× Jesus makes an appearance in Portuguese Playboy (NSFW), looks completely bored while doing so. Cue very inappropriate loling from me. Shortly afterward, Portuguese Playboy was killed off.

Mini link rec list this time since I haven't been finding much these past few weeks that's been rec-worthy (in my eyes, anyway).

× Fanart: Mario enemies are now sushi. The frog suit is also sushi in this image, which is a little creepy.

× While reading through today's Fandom Secrets I came across a really gorgeous Pokemon fanart. Its kinda epic.

× Polystyrene foam sculpture of Mario and Peach calls back to Michelangelo's La Pietá. Amazing.

× 16-bit Yakuza is really cute.

× Pretty awesome Street Fighter II tattoo. Most gaming tattoos make me go D: but not this one.

× Also awesome: Yoshi hand-knit scarf. Why don't I know how to knit?! I think if I bought this I'd be slapping my brother with Yoshi's tongue all the time. XD

× From lifehacker: Photography cheat sheets.

× Hello Kitty + Monster Hunter = instant cuteness.

× Top 5 Round Up: Top 5 Final Fantasy Character Types and Top 5 Best Fake Video Game Trailers. Those seem pretty self explanatory, I guess.

× Sonic the Hedgehog, President Obama, Harry Potter, what do these have in common? Nothing really, except they're all on this bootleg backpack for some reason. I think I might have broken my brain trying to make sense out of it.

Hmmm, I guess this list isn't as mini as I thought it would be.

My White Angel Slim camera came in, thus I am on cloud nine. It is one of the cutest things I've ever seen. ♥ Plus, the color of it matches my DS and PSP, and if you know me and my obsessive need to have matching things, than you probably already know that this is something that makes me happy. So looking forward to trying it out.

Anyway, I really have nothing more to say, so how about some links.

Links.

× Club Nintendo has added a new reward to their exclusive item list: The Legend of Zelda 3-Poster Series. ♥! Only 140 more points and I can get the set! (I'm pretty sure I have about 14 post-play surveys to do, each worth 10 points--perfect!)

× Fanfic: the Persona 4 kink meme has produced some pretty awesome smut fills, and it has also produced some equally awesome non-smut fills, two of which are The Misfit Motorcycle Club and its sequel The Misfit Motorcycle Club (Speed Demon Edition). The are full of much Naoto and Yosuke bonding and hilarity. Ah, friendship. But seriously, Yosuke, you should get rid of that bike before you have any more trashcan incidents.

× Street Fighter IV characters done in the style of Mega Man-inspired sprites. Very cute.

× Video: Imagining lyrics to the original Legend of Zelda theme is pretty funny.

× Video: Okamiden trailer from TGS. Chibiterasu is killing me with cuteness!

× Video: Fumito Ueda discusses The Last Guardian, plus new footage from the game. When the creature stretched out its legs like my cats do, it made me smile. I can't wait for this game! Its gonna be epic.

× Video: Kimi ni Todoke anime trailer. Sawako's voice is perfect. ♥

× Fun ways to fail at Scribblenauts.

× Fanfic: Queen of Spades (Casino Royale, Bond/M). I rarely read fic for Bond films, but I came across this one because of a fandom secret and, whoa, is it awesome. I rather like the idea of Bond attempting to seduce M, but instead he ends up being seduced by her.

× Video: The making of a Piranha Plant is both awesome and kinda horrifying. Holy crap, Mario, how can you face that thing?

× Video: Real life Street Fighter. Man, just watching this makes me wince and clutch at my hands.

× An 8-bit version of the theme for Professor Layton and The Last Time Travel.

I still have a bunch of Tokyo Game Show stuff to look through, so I'll probably be posting more links soon.
