Oh god, do I hate hurricane season.
Sep. 10th, 2008 05:56 pmI'm probably gonna go on a mini-hiatus for the next few days due to Hurricane Ike, which is currently making its way to the Texas coast. Please don't hit Corpus or Rockport. Please, please don't hit Corpus or Rockport. [repeat desperately into infinity] Not that I've been updating regularly or anything, but still. There's an actual reason this time for me not updating instead of my extreme lazy~ness. And to think that I actually had something [cough]Metalocalypse[cough]I wanted to ramble on about, too. That'll have to wait until I stop being a NERVOUS WRECK.
Curious if any of my fellow Rockport people are going to evacuate or not.
EDIT. The latest weather update shows that the eye of the storm is going to likely hit the Palacios or Matagorda Bay area. For now, our plan is to ride out the storm at our home in Corpus.
...I feel like I should say more, but I don't exactly feel like talking.
EDIT.2. Hmm, rereading this post I left out alot of details and it sounds as if I'm saying its going to hit soon -- which its not. Currently, its expected to make landfall Friday night/Saturday morning.
And sometimes I forgot that not everyone on the ol' flist lives in Texas; Palacios and Matagorda Bay are north of Corpus Christi, so if Ike stays true to its current path than we would be on the south side of the storm. And that's better than being on the north side (and they eye, of course) and all the storm surges.
Still, this hurricane worries me. Go further north, Ike! North!

Date: 2008-09-12 11:37 pm (UTC)But luckily Ike's course has veered away from where I live so we're safer, although we still have to watch out for possible tropical storm strength winds and flooding. Or we might not feel anything at all since Corpus is located near the edge of the storm. Eh, at least things are looking better than they were a few days ago. [gives semi-relieved thumbs up]
WHOA I'M BABBLING. SHUTTING UP NOW.
