ghostdrive: (sadism)
Oil painting was something I did in high school. Actually, painting was one of the courses I took. We used oil paint, acrylic paint, and watercolor, though mainly I did oil paintings. At the time I did not enjoy the class, mainly because the class was filled with upperclassmen who I did not feel comfortable with. (Which I find odd, since my drawing class I took the year before also had upperclassmen. I had no problem with that class though, maybe because a few of them had taken to affectionately calling me Daria*.) So I was quite surprised to have such an urge to start painting again that I could not sleep due to restlessness.

I am now the owner of several tubes of oil paint. And yet, now the inspiration I had earlier has fled into the deep recesses of my mind. With my luck, I'll probably want to get back into watercoloring. Though, I'm glad I still have my set of watercolors. One less thing for me to buy. YAY.

*For those who don't know, Daria was a character who debuted in Beavis and Butthead and later had her own series, Daria. She was a cynical, sarcastic, dry witted girl who went to Lawndale High and attempted to avoid the plague that was insane parents, a popular sister, and stupid classmates. I actually did look like Daria for awhile (except her glasses were round, while mine are more oval)....I probably still look like her now that I think about it. One of my best friends, [livejournal.com profile] grod8404, nicknamed me Daria when we first met on a school trip in Junior High. The nickname stuck for some time, since everyone seemed to automatically think of Daria when they saw me. Haha, I am amused.
