Sin City and GITS
Mar. 15th, 2005 07:33 pmBlah, I was typing out a post regarding a particular subject, but then I couldn't find the words to conclude it, so I just deleted what I originally had. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.
In other news, based on the trailer for Sin City, the movie looks like it's going to be as cool as the comic book is. Perhaps I'll go to Waldenbooks sometime this week and pick up the graphic novels of this series so I can remember the storyline. There are actually many comic book graphic novels I want to buy. They include: The Sandman series, Hellboy, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, New X-Men, 100 Bullets, and more that I can't remember at the moment but I have listed somewhere on my laptop. I was majorly into comic books for about 8 years, and then my interest just waned away while my interest in anime and manga grew. Now, I getting back to my comic book roots (at one point growing up, I wanted to be a comic book artist.) and I want to get the comic book collection I've always dreamed off.
Now I think I'll go channel my dorkiness into attempting to understand the techno-babble of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. I've given up on trying to make sense of GITS: Man-Machine Interface graphic novel since it is quite frankly impossible to do so, since Masamune Shirow never really connected all the interesting cyberpunk concepts (i.e. e-brain hacking, ghosting, viral grenade battles, etc.) into the storyline. I adore Masamune Shirow and his interesting female character designs, but Man-Machine Interface has way too much information in it to read in one sitting. Haha, what's funny is that when I read the first Ghost in the Shell graphic novel I thought it was hard to understand, but then after reading the second graphic novel I decided that the first was indeed easier to understand then the second.
If you have managed to read through this post without skipping it or being confused by it (which understandable when Ghost in the Shell seems to be the main subject) then I commend you. ♥♥
