My life is pretty boring, I admit it. I haven't done much blah blah blah, that's not the point. XD Okay, so maybe it is because today is the first time in my twenty-three years I've ever been in a vehicle where a tire blew out. It was so sudden; one minute I'm listening to Cansei de Ser Sexy's "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death from Above" and the next I hear this dull pop. It was actually kinda interesting, especially the way it sounded like we were skidding in place on gravel even though we were still traveling forward. In my head I imagined we were throwing up sparks, but that's totally wasn't the case since action movie scenes don't happen on old highways. (Too bad.) Also, in action movies you never see anyone take an hour to change a tire. (More on that in a minute.)

I'm surprisingly unemotional in these spontaneous situations: my reaction to seeing bits of tire flying past my vision from my position in the backseat was basically 'Hmmm, I think something happened to the tire' followed by me repeating this to my mom in the same apathetic manner. I am unflappable, people!

Anyway, my mom, who surprisingly did not panic despite it being her nature to, maneuvered us to the side of the road and the next hour was spent with her boyfriend trying (and failing in the beginning) to change into the spare tire and me wandering around in boredom taking random photographs of whatever was around (which wasn't much).

For nearly an hour, what a lonely view I had.

Behind the cut lies the tattered remains of our poor tire. Plus a few other photos I managed to take before I sought solitude in the shade of our truck. The heat was BLAZING. )
