Update from last entry.

ghostdriveApparently it really was a skin abscess/boil! To go into a brief digression first, I prefer seeing the Nurse Practitioner (who I will refer to as Mr. NP for the rest of this post) at my doctor's practice since he puts me more at ease and I feel like he gives me all the information I need rather than only answering my questions. Today was another example of why he is awesome.
Anyway, I go for my appointment and another nurse is once again asking me what I'm there for when Mr. NP steps into the room and is pretty much like "I got this ya'll!" I like that he actually reads the notes the receptionists take down when you call to make an appointment! Main doctor doesn't do that, he always repeats the same "What are you here for?" like the nurses do minutes before him.
So I tug down my pants enough for him to see the problem and he was all apologetic about removing the bandages I had on. (I had one large bandage one covered by two medium size ones to prevent leakage lol) "Let's take it off quick since its less painful that way. 1, 2, 3...!"
He took a culture of the bloody stuff inside the abscess (he had to press around the abscess and poke a sample taking thing into the wound), and since I didn't make a peep despite it being PAINFUL OMG he commended me for being "so stoic". My usual :| expression with regards to everything probably helped with him seeing me as stoic though.
Fortunately for me, he said, the abscess had opened up on its own. If it hadn't he would have had to cut it open to drain, and honestly I was sorta expecting that in the first place since I watch way too many medical shows. But he was all "Yay!" And me having to steel myself for an incision was avoided.
I did get lightheaded again though. I think I have a bad habit of breathing really shallow when a procedure is performed on me (i.e. like when I went to take blood-work) or when I have to contort myself to clean up the wound (like what happened yesterday).
So I came home with antibiotics and an antibacterial cream, and hopefully everything with heal up quickly! And hopefully I can stop leaving bloodstains on my clothing! Stained 3 pairs of underwear, my pajama pants, and the baggy corduroy jeans I wore today so far. :\
Also many thanks to Mr. NP informing me about antibiotics affecting birth control, and that it would be best to abstain from sex for a week, but if I didn't to make sure to use condoms (but who wants to have sex with a pussy wound on their butt???). I'm not sexually active nor do I take any sort of birth control, but I appreciated the info just the same. Because I know Main Doctor probably would never have thought to mention this. CAN YOU TELL I HAVE A BIAS TOWARD MR. NP?!
