ghostdriveFirst off, copy/pasting my posts from tumblr of what I bought when at the anime convention A-Kon early last month.
A-Kon swag part 1: blind-box toys and Square Enix keychains!
I’m usually really lucky about picking blind-boxes with the exact figure I want, but this year my luck was 50/50. Wanted both Kakashi and Echizen (pics 2-5), Sai wasn’t my first choice but I didn’t mind getting him (pic 1), and I definitely woulda preferred to get Alto or Sheryl or Ranka over Klan Klang for the Macross Frontier one (pic 4). (But I haven’t seen too much MF, so maybe I’ll like her more in the future.)
Bought Leon and Tifa since I love these little keychains so much. Last year I got Cloud and Sephiroth.
A-Kon swag part 2: artbooks, stationary, manga, prints & buttons.
Artbooks I picked up were Hyrule Historia, Shigenori Soejima art works 2004-2011, Blades, Salty Dog VI, and Yamane Ayano’s Viewfinder one.
The stationary I pretty much decided on what would be fun to send out to friends lol. (Bot! Hopefully I can send you a letter soon!) Of course I had to have the paw pad notepad orz
Buttons are by teaat2pm (Meelo’s, aaaaaa! Others are Homura and Howl.) and all the prints (one large, 4 postcard size) are by an artist I failed to get the name of, sobs. Later on I’ll be looking through the A-Kon booklet for an artist list and hopefully figure out her name.
And then that stack of manga/etc are mostly volumes I needed to complete collections.
And lastly, A-Kon Swag part 3: Sky High and Kotetsu figures (Tiger & Bunny), Alpaca plushies, t-shirt that I found completely hilarious, and Kyubey plushie (SCREAMING).
Funny story about the alpacas—I’m going to sound a bit elitist with this. I was so excited to see so many plushies sold there that I quickly snapped up a small one (the pink one here). Once the haze of OMG ALPACASSSS faded I realized: oh hey, this isn’t an Arpakasso brand plushie! It was one of those Hong Kong knock-offs lol. It should have been obvious with the sort of paper tag it had. But it was $12 (which should have been ANOTHER sign haha) and cute, so whatever.
But you can be damn sure I checked every other plushie I looked at for signs it was a legit Arpakasso. I AM AN ARPAKASSO SNOB I GUESS. The big one is a genuine Arpakasso btw. It is wonderfully big and fluffy, and aaaaaaa I cuddled it the entire way home.
Once again I completely failed at keeping up my monthly medialogging, but whatever
