ghostdrive: ([study time!] misc.)
Classes start for me tomorrow. Really not looking forward to it since first days make me anxious. Perhaps I'll take my DS so I can play Sudoku Gridmaster during my hour long break between classes. Hmmmm...

Also, I'm taking English Composition II this semester. I hope it doesn't give me a "WTF?! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY WRITING SKILLS?!" moment like my previous English course did. -_-; That was not fun.

Remember how I was complaining about that stupid Octopus boss in Boktai 2? Well, I beat her a few days ago and it was so freaking easy! Its amazing the difference a simple weapon change (Fire Paw spear for the win!) and a little leveling up can make in battle. She was a total pansy of a boss after that.

The Sea-ruling Immortal, Blue Dvalinn, from Boktai 2 is a complete PAIN IN THE ASS to beat. Arrrrggghh! Damn her stupid charge technique that gets me every single time (WOE TO MY SLOW REFLEXES), and damn her stupid Octopus-like head!

Seriously, she's so frustrating that I've had to resist the urge to fling my GBA to the floor. I thought I had reserved all my gamer rage for Devil May Cry 3 and Vagrant Story, but noooooo, the bosses in Boktai 2 are like a hundred times harder than in the first one. D:<

[sigh] Guess I'll go level up more (or try to Solar Forge higher grade weapons) before I attempt another go at her.

...Also, Sabata cracks me up with his "Galaxy Universe" talk. XD

This post will probably make sense to no one but me. If you must know, they--the following bulleted items that is--are for t-shirt designs.

Look for Boktai 2 screenshots of:

I've finally found it; the game I've been searching for the past 6 months for (...and no, I didn't check online, I completely forgot about that resource). It is Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django for GameBoy Advance. I absolutely adored the first game (I actually took the time to play through it twice which is rare for me), and the reviews for the sequel are fairly good. Now once I get ahold of one of my GBAs (both my 2 GBAs and my Nintendo DS are in Rockport; I'm in Corpus at the moment) I can get playing. And I also bought Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament (also for the GBA) which was also pretty cool.

Like Ico (an incredibly beautiful PS2 game), I think the original Boktai was an under-appreciated game. Probably because of the solar system it used where you actually had to go out into the sunlight in order to gain energy for your Solar Gun (haha, making gamers go outside) turned people off. But, if you ever get a chance to play Boktai or Ico (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), you should really give them a try.

Apparently Viz is releasing Death Note in October, and so far the reactions between fans has been mixed. Some really despise Viz because of past poor quality translations, while others are just glad to have DN come out in English. I think I'll wait until more news comes out to make a definite opinion. There are some titles that I think they've done a great job on, such as Alice 19th, Red River (which is slowly becoming a favorite of mine), and Mermaid Saga, among other. But, their Shonen Jump (which includes Naruto, One Piece, Hikaru no Go, Rurouni Kenshin, etc.) line has been so-so. My main complaint is with the translating of sound effects (the font they use distracts from the scenes, especially when they make it soooo large as is their tendency to do [look at the Haku/Sasuke battle in Naruto as an example]) and their somewhat off way of translating character names (sometimes they give the wrong name, or have changed it to something completely different), special moves (they referred to Ino's technique in Naruto as Art of the Valentine), and other things (i.e. calling Kakashi's Icha Icha Paradise book as Make-out Paradise when it's actually Come Come Paradise. Yes, It's a dirty book).

Anyway, I do hope they do a good job on Death Note or else one of the communities I belong to, [livejournal.com profile] death_note, is going to do a hell of a lot of griping.
