I've been rereading my volumes of Yakitate!! Japan and came across a side note about raised-bed cultivation that I somehow managed to miss during my first read-through:
In raised-bed cultivation, melons are not directly cultivated on the ground, and dirt, water and fertilizer are adjusted to fit each melon. It is grown by spending lots of time and effort, like you would making love to a woman in a twin bed.
AHAHAHA. Emphasis obviously mine, but oh~ Yaki-pan. Only you can relate melon raising to sex and somehow have it make sense. XD
