I am clearly insane.

My reaction to reading news about an Infernal Affairs American remake: NOOOOOOOOOO!! Why must America feel the need to remake perfectly good movies from Hong Kong and Japanese cinema?!
That movie is just so gorgeous and great and NO ONE CAN REPLACE ANDY LAU! Mwahahaha, I am insane! And Jack Nicholson as Anthony Wong's character? The Irish mob instead of the Chinese Triads? Matt Damon as the mole that infiltrates the police department (a.k.a. Andy Lau's Lau character) and Leonardo Dicaprio as the cop mole in the mob (a.k.a. Tony Leung's Yan character)? Nay, I say! Nay! And I don't give a damn if the director is Scorcese.
If it turns out to not be utter crap (like most previous remakes) I will be surprised. And if it does do well, I will be forced to eat a slice of humble pie.
Sorry, I just love Asian cinema, especially ones involving my favorite asian movies stars(i.e. Andy Lau, BEAT Takeshi, Sammi Cheung, Daniel Wu, Edison Chen, Nicholas Tse, Miriam Yeung, Takeshi Kaneshiro, etc.) and it disappoints me when absolutely horrid remakes are made. Maybe I'll be more open to this once I get used to the idea of Damon playing Lau.
On a slightly humorous note, I am amused that some of the actors end up playing characters with their own names. Such as Anthony Wong as Superintendent Wong, Andy Lau as Kim something Lau, Takeshi Kitano (a.k.a BEAT Takeshi) as Kitano. Haha, its like when I make fun of Tony Danza for constantly playing characters named "Tony".
And whoa, I actually found some Saiyuki pics I haven't seen before. ::goes off to save them:: Minekura-sensei draws some of them with such indecently low-slung pants, haha (especially Gojyo, but he's always indecent).
Anyway, here's Andy Lau since I've raved so much about him: (This is a scene from Infernal Affairs, Andy's on the right, Tony Leung on the left.)

Gorgeous! ♥
