"Ahh, this is life...Soy sauce flavor."
Apr. 24th, 2008 08:53 pmI'VE FINALLY FINISHED PERSONA 3. And it only took me, oh...118 hours.
Note: In the game you got to name the main character yourself, but I'm gonna call him by the name he's given in the P3 manga, Minato.
Also, please excuse any incoherency. My brain often wants my fingers to type faster than they really can. XD
Overall, I really liked the game. The gameplay was fun, fusing personas for the Copendium was addicting (though I only made it to 65% before stopping), the characters were likeable, and it was kind of like you were in the game yourself since the main character is virtually a non-character. I could of done with there being less of Tartarus (I think that once it got past 200 levels I was like "PACK IT IN. NO MORE LEVELS"), but once I got into that dungeon-crawling zone this wasn't really a problem. The only real downsides for me, besides the insane amount of hours it took to complete, were the music (I only liked a few tracks) and, most especially, the animated sequences. Egads, were those scenes horrible.
And now for some random commentary over whatever I feel like talking about:
Monad
AWESOME PLACE FOR EXP/MONEY. Seriously, there were times when it took just one battle there to level up my characters (of course, it took longer once you got to a certain point, but still. Great exp there). I got all my guys up to level 90 (and the protaganist up to 97) before I decided I'd spent enough time there (read: I was bored of leveling up!) and went in for the final battle.
But besides leveling up like crazy I also amassed more than 5 million yen in a short time (and even more as I continued to level up)--1 million just from getting the the top of Monad.
Dating girls
Fuck, does it take a long for your social link to rank up once a girl becomes your girlfriend. If only you could break up with one to go out with another!That makes me sound like a bad person! I managed to make it to level 9 with Chihiro by the time the game ended.
And also, just to prove I'm just as romantically inept in games as I am in real life, everytime I was given a choice as to how I wanted to react to a girl, I somehow always managed to choose the most awkward option. (Ex. In Yakushima when you're given the option of hugging Yukari, I chose not to and we just stood there in complete silence. Haha!)
Bad Ending
If you decide to kill Ryoji on December 31st, this is the ending you get. You forget about the Dark Hour, forget all the memories you've made with your friends both in and out of battle, and most of all everyone dies in the end. Bummer. Even sadder is that Aegis is the only one who remembers anything and it just broke my heart as she stood there staring at Minato and everyone else on Graduation Day.
Good Ending
And this is the ending you get if you decide you're going to battle Nyx instead. Well, actually, you fight Jin thenHippie!Jesus Takaya and then Nyx. Anyway, neither of the three were that tough or maybe it's because I leveled up so much. Though, I'm not gonna deny that parts of the final battle were cheesy to the extreme (sample quotes: "I've made up my mind... I'll fight to the end!", "Don't give up! We have to believe in him!", and even "Give him strength! Take my life if you must!"), but the ending (once life is back to normal) was oh so sweet. I especially liked the very end when Aigis and Minato are sitting on the school rooftop and he has his head in her lap. Adorable. ♥ Too bad it seems that Minato seems like he's fallen into a coma or something. ;_;
I'm tempted to babble on more, but I'm still not feeling as well as I usually do.
I look forward to when I get FES in the mail. ♥

A heads-up to those who managed to pick up Okami (Wii) with the IGN watermark on the cover: Capcom is offering a replacement cover (in fact, there are three covers to choose from) free of charge. Awesome. Check [here] for more information.
