[pictures] Texas State Aquarium
Last Tuesday I went to the Texas State Aquarium with my brother, my mom, mom's boyfriend P, and like a million elementary students in neon colored t-shirts. Just our luck, we picked a field trip day.
At first we all stuck together, but then I had to go buy myself some batteries from the giftshop, so my brother and I went off on our own afterward. And, as some twins are apt to do, we went off into our own little world as well; at one point we were imitating stingrays until we realized, hey, we're in public. Not that that stopped us from giggling to each other the entire time. We also spent quite a bit of time by the sea turtle tank watching Koopa Troopa, a rescued turtle who looked exactly like that enemy from the Mario games. ...Okay, so his real name was Lucky, but seriously. His face was just like a Koopa Troopa. XD

In total, I took 185 photos at the Aquarium; 72 were resized for possible posting, and 62 made it here. Random photos ahoy!

These were in a tank with pistol shrimp (or are these the pistol shrimp?) and whenever we stopped to look at them my brother would make pistol sounds as if they were shooting each other. XD
On a semi-related note, Peppermint shrimp are soooooo cute. ♥ Too bad I failed to get a photo of them.

I'm tempted to submit this one as a print (as a postcard), but since I've never done this before I don't know if its worth it. Thoughts?

From the Islands of Steel exhibit. I had taken more photos, but since they were all equally full of fast moving, blurry fish (and sharks and turtles), I thought one would suffice here.

The U.S.S Lexington museum, a WWII aircraft carrier that's located nearby.

A view of the Dolphin Bay exhibit taken from the observation deck on the roof.

Unfortunately for us, the otters didn't make an appearance until just as we were leaving. D:

This is the "Wishing Whale", where you could toss in your coins and make a wish. Ahhhh, puns. It actually looks pretty disgusting in this photo.

Its probably a waste of money to get these pressed pennies since they cost 50 cents to make, but I got two of them: a shark one and a sea horse one.

Its Koopa Troopa!

mekosuchinae has been writing ficbits for Iron Man and AHHHH they are so incredibly awesome and I've reread each one more than once with this giddy smile on my face. Somehow she has taken my favorite part of the film, those interactions between Tony and Pepper, and created these moments that feel so true to the characters. All of her Tony/Pepper prompts have been indexed in this post (my personal favorite being Four Color Glory)
