Oh god, do I hate hurricane season.

I'm probably gonna go on a mini-hiatus for the next few days due to Hurricane Ike, which is currently making its way to the Texas coast. Please don't hit Corpus or Rockport. Please, please don't hit Corpus or Rockport. [repeat desperately into infinity] Not that I've been updating regularly or anything, but still. There's an actual reason this time for me not updating instead of my extreme lazy~ness. And to think that I actually had something [cough]Metalocalypse[cough]I wanted to ramble on about, too. That'll have to wait until I stop being a NERVOUS WRECK.

Curious if any of my fellow Rockport people are going to evacuate or not.

EDIT. The latest weather update shows that the eye of the storm is going to likely hit the Palacios or Matagorda Bay area. For now, our plan is to ride out the storm at our home in Corpus.

...I feel like I should say more, but I don't exactly feel like talking.

EDIT.2. Hmm, rereading this post I left out alot of details and it sounds as if I'm saying its going to hit soon -- which its not. Currently, its expected to make landfall Friday night/Saturday morning.

And sometimes I forgot that not everyone on the ol' flist lives in Texas; Palacios and Matagorda Bay are north of Corpus Christi, so if Ike stays true to its current path than we would be on the south side of the storm. And that's better than being on the north side (and they eye, of course) and all the storm surges.

Still, this hurricane worries me. Go further north, Ike! North!

prepare yourself?

I...I really hope it doesn't hit you :\
and that you're ike's friend so he'll fight other hurricanes for you
(or that maybe you're not so he won't)

BE SAFE

At first were were going to go to the West (Go West!) but then we saw the shift and we may ride it out here or my brother's in Corpus Christi. We'll see. I'm one of those skeptics that thinks Jesus put a barrier around Rockport or something... but then I have my boyfriend and my Dad telling me I. MUST. EVACUATE. haha. Hope you and Santos and Connie and all the other people and pets are safe. <3

Take a hike, Ike!

LOL. That made me laugh so hard I startled my cats awake. But you're kinda right about that; all the previous hurricanes either veered off in another direction or downgraded to a tropical storm before hitting. Rockport is ~magical~.

Its kinda unnecessary for me to say this since, you know, the weather outlook has gotten much better for us since I first made this hurricane post, but I hope you stay safe, too! ♥

Things are much better now. [thumbs up] At least now I only have to worry about tropical storm type weather. Phew. And I suppose I am Ike's friend since the hurricane's path started to veer in a more northern path once I made this post. XDDD

Stay safe in Houston!

I was scared shitless of typhoons in Japan, even if I never suffered a big one, so I cannot imagine how a hurricane might feel! I hope you and your home are safe and that it weakens before hitting anywhere else.

I really really really love your icon.

Did you mean mine?

Thanks. I have yet to watch the movie, but it is on my "To search for" list. I was so captivated by that movie still alone!

Even though I've lived on the Texas coast most of my life I've yet to experience a hurricane firsthand so I feel like I can't imagine what its like either. I mean, I get all anxious and scared every year when one looks like its coming our way (and that's especially the case with this one since its so large; one news channel said it was bigger than our state!), but it must be much, much worse when you know you're in its direct path. I'll be so glad once hurricane season it over. :|

But luckily Ike's course has veered away from where I live so we're safer, although we still have to watch out for possible tropical storm strength winds and flooding. Or we might not feel anything at all since Corpus is located near the edge of the storm. Eh, at least things are looking better than they were a few days ago. [gives semi-relieved thumbs up]

WHOA I'M BABBLING. SHUTTING UP NOW.

Don't worry, I would be very scared in your place, too. I am glad you'll only suffer the aftermath, but I still hope it is not that strong. Hold on there!
