To put it briefly (since I'm more interested in showing cosplay pictures), A-Kon was awesome. ♥ Went with Gina and Santos, met Katherine and Sara there (my apologies to you guys for being unsocial), bought some cool things (though I spent far less compared to last year), and had an all around good time. Can't want until next year!
Before I get to the cosplay pictures, here's a little story about how Gina became super excited over a Count Cain cosplayer. She's soooo going to kill me for making fun of her. XDDD
Despite having read not one volume of Count Cain (I've shown her pictures and scanlations, and rambled on about it to her though, which is how she knows about it), Gina is IN LOVE with Cain. She just thinks he's the most adorable thing ever and will spaz out about him at any given opportunity. So before we even started on the car ride up to Dallas, I told her, " You know, I know of at least one Cain cosplayer being at A-Kon since someone on the Count Cain comm posted that they were going as him. Should I keep a look out for her?" To say she was excited over this would be an understatement; she was seriously squealing as much as when she found that Jack Skellington lunch box at Hot Topic. XD
Anyway, we didn't spot a Cain cosplayer the entire time we were wandering around the convention center on Saturday...that is, until we were making our way back to our room. Passing by a small group of people sitting near the lobby, I suddenly spotted a silver-gray mop of hair. "Riff?", I thought. And sitting next to this silver-haired person is a familiar figure in a top hat and black suit. Fuck yeah, its Cain.
At this point we've just passed by them and I don't want to make a total dork of myself by screaming out,"ZOMG, its Cain!", so I turn to Gina (Ahahaha, I'll let her do all the dirty work) and let her know we've just passed by the person she's been looking for. XD She literally spun around and made a beeline towards where they were sitting. XDD After taking a couple of photos and chatting with them a bit, as we were walking away me and Gina were totally high-fiving each other. We're such dorks.
------
Also, when we first started taking pictures, me and Gina got so excited we kept on circling around the same area for like 20 minutes. XD Then my brother was like, "Ummm...Can't we, you know, go somewhere else now?" Ahahaha, I'm surprised he didn't hide out in the hotel room.
1. Red Power Ranger and Zord
2. Vash the Stampede (Trigun)

3. I know, this is a crappy shot of Link, but check out the detail in her costume!

4. Pyramid Head (from Silent Hill)! And he(?) lurched around the convention center too! I love in character cosplayers. ♥And no, I did not add any effects to this picture. I'd been screwing around with my camera beforehand, and I don't know what I did to it.
5. Aeris and Tifa (FF7)

6. ??? I DON'T REMEMBER WHO THIS IS. Please, if someone knows, tell me.

7. Wah! It's Princess Peach! Her pose was so cute. ♥

8. Random girl with a pretty costume + some Naruto character

9. Arucard and ??? (Hellsing)

10. Zangief (Street Fighter). I ♥ his pose. For a brief moment, we mistook him for Mr. T. I don't know why. XD

11. Vash the Stampede and some girl from Tenje Tenjou

12. Hellsing crew

13. Skull kid (I think) from Legend of Zelda

14. Space Ghost

15. Link (Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess). This was the most AWESOME Link cosplayer there. I throw ♥s at her sheer greatness.

16. Vincent Valentine (FF7/Dirge of Cerberus/Advent Children). This girl was so beautiful as Vincent (also the water gun cracks me up). On Sunday she dressed up as Turk!Vincent, but I didn't get a chance to take a picture of her then.

17. Rita Repulsa (Power Rangers)

18. Gir (Invader Zim). This cosplayer attempted to run away at one point, and boy, it was the most adorable thing ever. XD

19. Trinity Blood trio

20. Gum and Beat (Jet Set Radio). By far, these two were one of my favorite cosplayers there. They're so colorful! ♥ And besides, I love anything to do with Jet Set Radio.

21. Stormtrooper (Star Wars). Gina went crazy over this guy. XD

22. Zelda and Link (Twilight Princess)

23. Riff and Cain (Count Cain).

24. Another of Riff and Cain They offered to give us a fanservice shot, but Gina declined.I WANT ME A FANSERVICE SHOT. Nevermind, my prayers have been answered. Check HERE for fanservice. :D Also, please excuse the red-eye.

25. Rukia (Bleach). She was adorable~.

26. Mario and Luigi

Cosplayers I missed out on taking pics of:
Dan (Street Fighter) -- His pink gi was fabulous. XD
Bender (Futurama) -- This cosplayer completely stopped traffic where ever he(?) went. Everyone would just crowd around Bender.
Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid) -- He snuck away before I had a chance to even take out my camera. Damn, he was the master of stealth.
Typing of the Dead guys -- As much as I love "Typing of the Dead", I totally failed to recognize these guys until my brother whispered to me,"Hey! Check out those Dreamcasts strapped to their backs. It's those Typing of the Dead guys." Right after he said that, they disappeared. Damn.
Turk!Vincent -- Oh my god, she was so beautiful. ♥
Terry Bogard (Fatal Fury)
Little Prince (Katamari Damacy)
Iori (King of Fighters) -- This guy was so tall! I was a bit too intimidated to approach him. ^^;
some random cute guy in a nice, victorian suit. (Perhaps he was Riff?)
Kira (Gundam Seed)
------
In comparison to last year, there were less Naruto and Bleach cosplayers, but there were a TON of Kingdom Hearts ones.
If anyone is interested, more cosplay pics from this event can be found in the galleries HERE.
------
Things I bought:
blanc et noir -- Takeshi Obata artbook. At first I balked at the $70 price on this, but holy crap, the artwork is BEAUTIFUL. ♥
salty-dog IV -- Kazuya Minekura artboook
Final Fantasy VII soundtrack
Final Fantasy VIII soundtrack
Mars -- Gackt Alas, I could not find "Rebirth".
2 The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap mini-figurines. One is of Link with the Gust Jar, and the other is a Minish/Picori. So cute~! ♥
snacks: Men's Pocky, Almond Crush Pocky, Mousse Pocky, Hello Panda (strawberry and milk cream), random small boxes of japanese candy
Bought for others:
Luigi plushie for Santos
Dracula Voodoobaby for Gina
I was kind of disappointed by the lack of interesting artbooks at the Sasuga Books booth this year. ...Or maybe I just didn't find many I wanted since I boughtlike a bajillion of them so many of them last year. XD
Things I wished I had bought:
--Nanae Chrono artbook
--Totoro coin purse
--HIGH and MIGHTHY COLOR cds
--other various JRock and JPop cds
--more Minish Cap figurines (and the Mario Kart ones for Santos)
--Cactuar plushie. I CAN NOT RESIST CACTUAR.
------
Gina found out, vaguely anyway, what "yaoi" and "yuri" mean. Ahahaha, her first con and she's already being corrupted. XD Also, can you believe she didn't know what "emo" meant? Man, she really has been away from the internet far too long, or perhaps I'm just online way too much XD. On the way back from A-kon, Gina was already making plans for next year. XD.
------
Favorite cosplay skits:
Duel of Snake vs. Revolver Ocelot (Metal Gear Solid 3). -- Snake won and proceeded to shake out Ocelot's dog tags (actually, it turned out to be the other person's convention badge). Man, I loved this skit.
Organization XIII crew talking. -- Axel's repeated askings of "Where's Roxas?" had me cracking up. Favorite line? When Xemnas says," Its ESpresso, not EXpresso. Not everything has to have an "X" in it you know." I was like dying of laughter here. XDD
FF7 skit that alluded to Vincent/Cloud and Vincent/Cid pairings. Too bad I can't remember any lines from this one. XP
"A Date with Zelda" -- When it comes to the dating game, Twilight Princess!Link and Wind Waker!Link lose when it comes to 8-bit Link.
Oh yeah, and someone proposed to their girlfriend on stage too. Lucklily, she said yes.

Date: 2006-06-18 08:36 pm (UTC)I never saw her in her Turk wear. Too bad. =(
"Love Letter" is kinda dull. It's all ballads. That's why I wanted "Diablos." I have "Mars" and "Crescent." I ♥ "Mars." Especially "Vanilla." I wanna buy Hikki's new CD on YesAsia. I can't wait to hear her new CD. I own all of hers. Well except "Distance" now...it got lost in my friends yard. I wanted to cry.
I tried buying the first Volume of Loveless but it was sold out everywhere on Sunday.
She was so good! She made an excellent Rukia.
Bwahahaha it was funny. I bet they did. I'm sure they won't ever being using them again.
Conventions RULE. I want to go to AnimeFEST this fall but I'm sure we can't. They're uber addicting. ♥

Date: 2006-06-19 02:42 am (UTC)Oh yeah! I completely forgot about Hikki's new album. I need to remember to order it too. ♥ And your Distance cd got lost in your friend's yard? What happened, did you misplace it or something? [curious]
Btw, where is AnimeFEST held (and when is it)?

Date: 2006-06-21 09:59 pm (UTC)Woop! Came out yesterday. I'll buy it after I finish checking my e-mail maybe. Haha, yeah we were listening to it on her trampoline and I took it out and set it on her balance beam to put in a new one and somehow forgot about it and when I realized it was gone (like days later) I was like OMG and it had rained recently too. It never showed up. I was so upset and no one has a burned copy of it either I could steal. It's my favorite of her CDs too. =(
It's in Dallas sometime in Sept. The first weekend I think. animefest.com I think it is. It's not too exciting (the site) but last year they had Shinichiro Watanabe there! So I figure it should be good (the con). This year they have the person who did Lain and Niea_7 and such. Something Abe? Can't remember their name......=/ We really wanna go.
