Sometimes I feel like a lame mini-video game blog, lol. But I can't help but share the news I come across.

× I mentioned this to [livejournal.com profile] michachan the other day, but I'll mention it here as well: if you managed to sign up for a free Okami cover during the whole IGN-watermark-debacle, then guess what? They're finally shipping out! Plus, as a special bonus, they're giving you all three covers instead of just the one you picked out. Yay Capcom! ♥ I was sneaky and signed up from my two different addresses, so I'm looking forward to getting six covers in the mail. :3 The cherry blossom ones will be framed lovingly.

× Nintendo Power is celebrating its 20th anniversary next month (♥!) with a party at the Nintendo World store in New York City's Rockefeller Plaza. On September 13th, the first 400 people in line with any issue of NP will be allowed in, or, if you're like me and live nowhere near where its being held, you can also visit the Nintendo Power website for a chance to win one of four VIP grand prize trips (complete with round-trip transportation and hotel accommodations) there. Yay Nintendo! ♥

× This is where I would have talked about the Gold Box Deals Amazon was having for the PS3, but it seems it has already passed. Oh well. XD

Now I return to my search for sweater dresses (so far this one has caught my eye; I want something cable knit!) and colorful tights/leggings (yes, I am arriving late to the color party). I admit to being starry-eyed over the variety of colors available from We Love Colors.

"20 Years of Nintendo Power" is Nintendo Power's year-long look back at their twenty years in publication, or, as they put it, "a celebration of Nintendo Power's classic moments". Each month they focus on a different subject, such as the evolution of their design style through the years (as seen in issue #228), and while the articles tend to be dominated by visuals, they are always interesting to read. This month's issue (#229) spotlights a few of the video game-themed comics/manga that have run in NP in the past.

Anyone interested in seeing the previous installments?

I have more magazine scans to share (from PiQ, a new publication from ADV), but those will have to wait for another day.

This weekend is A-Kon, and I'm still debating whether to take my laptop with me or not. In the past I didn't take it since I didn't want the friends I was with to park themselves in front of it like they had a tendency to do at my house. Why does "hey, I'm gonna just check my email quickly" always turn into several hours of unrelated internet browsing? :| Must resist the urge to rant about why I don't let other people (beside my brother, that is) use my laptop anymore for reasons related to the previous sentence. But this time none of my friends are going. My brother is going, but, like I said, I can trust him with my laptop, so I might end up taking it... mostly because I have way too many lj comms friended and I'm currently tracking all parts of the Phoenix Wright Kink Meme, so the thought of coming home to hundred of posts and 400+ emails in my inbox is making me cringe already. WHY AM I SO ADDICTED TO YOU, LJ.

I was also checking the A-kon website for places to eat at besides McDonald's near the Sheraton and apparently the Dallas Museum of Art is located three blocks away. I sooooo want to go~ I've recently been on a big museum/zoo/aquarium kick and when I know something is nearby I get terribly excited (even more so than I am about A-Kon, haha). I wonder if I can convince my brother to go for a few hours with me. Though I really want to go in October when the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibit opens up. I'm crazy about Egyptian art/artifacts/etc.

From the latest issue of Nintendo Power (May 2008, #228):

SO. DAMN. CUTE.

Its a Link bento! So adorable! ♥

It was from their reader mail section, Pulse, so I guess I'll include the letter she sent on what its made of. )

Also, in the community section, there is a full page article about an NP reader and her dad who--get this-- FORGED THEIR OWN MASTER SWORD. Seriously, the Master Sword. How awesome is that?!
