Subject line has nothing at all to do with this post, lol.
END OF THE YEAR MEME
What did you do this year that you'd never done before?
Cross-stitching, an obsessive craft that only the truly insane should attempt.
Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I made any resolutions (and I'm also too lazy to check my entries from last year, lol), and since I never seem to keep them I don't bother making resolutions anymore.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Uhhhh, not that I remember.
Did anyone close to you die?
My grandfather.
What countries did you visit?
None. I never even left Texas! D:
What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
The courage and motivation to do what I want in life (i.e. college) and not let anyone make me feel that its beneath me.
What date from this year will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 1, 2008, the day my mom let us know she was seeing someone. I know my dad has been gone for more than seven years, but still, her getting a boyfriend kinda broke my heart. I was really depressed for the first couple of months of 2008.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Having my video game collection reach 160? ^^;;;;;;
What was your biggest failure?
Allowing my social anxiety and fear of failure to get the best of me.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was sick quite a lot with various infections. That UTI alone took nearly 3 months to completely clear. Also, the antibiotics I was on affected my eyesight a bit. o_o
What was the best thing you bought?
My ceramic white PSP! Oh how I love portable gaming.
Whose behavior merited celebration?
S-somebody...
Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My mom when she invited her boyfriend to live in our home without letting my brother and I know.
Where did most of your money go?
Video games, books, bills.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
PERSONA FUCKING 4.
What song will always remind you of this year?
Laura Gibson's Come by Storm.
Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? Happier, but waaaay grumpier.
thinner or fatter? The same.
richer or poorer? Richer.
What do you wish you'd done more of?
-Worked on my photography/drawing/cross-stitching
-Stayed in touch with friends/family
-Kept up with yoga more
What do you wish you'd done less of?
-Procrastination~
-sleeping in late
How did you spend Christmas?
Being silly with my brother.
Did you fall in love in 2008?
Nope.
How many one-night stands?
None.
What was your favorite TV program?
OH GOD SO MANY. WHY AM I SO ADDICTED TO THE TV. Monk, NCIS, Burn Notice, Eureka, House, and Battlestar Galactica are all shows I started watching in 2008.
Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nah.
What was the best book you read?
...Did I read anything new besides manga this year? That sounds so pathetic, I know.
But since I'm on the subject, Cat-Eyed Boy, Real, and The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service are all worth checking out.
What was your greatest musical discovery?
Yoshida Brothers. The Blue Hearts.
What did you want and get?
Stuff?
What did you want and not get?
A PS3 (come on, Santos, why won't you buy me one?) and a new camera.
What was your favorite film of this year?
Iron Man. I became quite infatuated with (the very fictional, I have to remind myself) Tony Stark for quite awhile.
What did you do on your birthday?
I did absolutely nothing. Believe it or not, it was great.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not taking the year off from college.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Casual androgynous with occasional girly moments.
What kept you sane?
Family/friends/cats/hobbies
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Simon Pegg! The guy is completely unattractive, but I just love him to pieces. I can't tell you how many times I watched Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead.
What political issue stirred you the most?
[obligatory election reponse]
Who did you miss?
Tammy, Gina, everyone else I've lost/been losing touch with.
Who was the best new person you met?
I have no idea since I haven't talked much to the new people I've met.
Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned this year.
Every day's great at your Junes~
The other day Barnes & Noble was having a sale and, if you know me, you know I can't resist a book sale. I ended up ordering seven books off of the website, and then yet another one from Borders.com since I had a 20% off coupon. (I have yet another 30% off coupon from Borders, so . . . yeah.) You'd think that since I'm quickly running out of shelf space I'd slow down on buying books/manga/dvds/video games/whatever, but nooooo. Instead I've starting double stacking my shelves even though it pains me to do so since I'm such a neat freak.
There's no real point to me mentioning that, except to say: I need new bookcases! My last ones were from Ikea so I guess my search will start there. Target has this five-shelf bookcase in espresso I really like (it also matches my existing furniture), but I'd have to buy, like, five or six of them. Maybe I should just consider having some custom ones built into my walls.

L-R: Sora, Ren, Mr. Swirls, Choppy
Some photos are blurry since my camera enjoys screwing up on me. One of these days, camera, I'm gonna replace you. I'm telling ya, one of these days. [determined fist shaking] Any bad lighting is courtesy the light bulbs in my room.

The shelf that holds part of my game collection; my Nintendo DS, Gameboy Color/Advance, PSP, and PS1 games are here. That green frog is one of my favorite things ever. My brother bought it for me when we went to the Texas State Aquarium and it has these super long arms that are good for flailing around in a Kermit the Frog sort of way.
The very top of the bookcase is unusually messy. Man, I need to tidy it up.

My laptop is a favorite resting place for Kaiba.

What did my mom call these piggies? Marranitos, I think. Mexican pastries aren't my thing, but the pig shape of this one is just too cute.

She looks like a blurry cat-camel.

There are a few stray cats that hang around our house and this one can look a bit crazy-eyed sometimes. XD He's very affectionate, though. ♥

Teddie stood guard over our Christmas gifts.

The kitty on the wrapping paper is a bit on the creepy side.
