You guys, I think my room is in the beginning stage of becoming Yomiko Readman's. I'm running out of space and have started stacking books and doubling up on shelves. I HAVE AN ADDICTION TO BOOKS. щ(✧◡✧щ)

Photobucket

This corner has become my language books section. I keep on searching Half-Price Books for interesting finds, so this corner will probably expand soon. A few more pics of part of my library. )

× Video: Insooni (feat. DY) performing Uppercut on Music Bank (110304). When it comes to Korean entertainers I'm not familiar with on music shows, I tend to skip past those videos on Omona's weekly posts. But I kept on seeing comments on how Insooni "killed it", and out of curiosity I watched one of her Uppercut performance and OMG I'M SO GLAD I DID. She is so fierce and amazing and I love her. (I think I rambled on tumblr about wanting to be her version of Pteradactyl? lmao) This song makes me feel so energized! She's proof that you can be over 50 and fucking bad-ass. /stan

× Ten most disturbing Pokedex entries

× The 20 weirdest fish in the ocean.

× Ever wonder how you you'd fare in the Victorian Era? Okay, you've probably never thought about that, but play this online game to find out anyway! Oddly fun and sooo hilarious, seriously, try it out. You pick to play either a man or a woman, and depending on various social situations, your goal is to choose the appropriate response for that era. Even though I accidentally threw my undergarments at someone on the train, I am apparently a picture of politeness!

× Study shows that cats are manipulators. Cat owners around the world go, "Pffft. I knew that already."

× The Cambridge Face Memory Test tests your ability to recognize unfamiliar faces. I got 70 out of 72 correct (97%), how about you?

It's currently turning into air conditioner weather here in Texas, which is a big pain in the ass since our a/c works for shit. My laptop is overheating and the fan is whirring like crazy as I type this. Awesome. :\

Hopefully we can get it replaced before I really start dying from the heat.

× Tokyo Beat Down: The Story of Yakuza is about the series' journey stateside and why its been tough finding an audience for the franchise. I personally love Yakuza so this was an interesting read.

× Loco Roco themed nursery is amazing.

× Ever wonder how Street Fighter characters looked as zombies? Yeah, me neither, but here's how they'd look if they were. So random.

I posted a video of theirs on tumblr and I'm gonna post one here as well since I love them that much.

Kodo by Yoshida Brothers

If you remember the commercials that aired for the Wii then you'll most definitely remember that catchy song that backed those two Asian guys as they traveled the US in their little car, knocking on people's door to show them the awesomeness of the Wii. Kodo (Inside the Sun Remix) was that song, and the above video is the original version.

Yoshida Brothers is made up of two shamisen-playing brothers, Ryoichiro and Kenichi. Not only do they play the Tsugaru-jamisen genre of the shamisen, their music is also a fusion of traditional (the shamisen of course) and modern sounds (synthesizers, electric guitar, etc). Check out Rising for a good example of this. Honestly, watching them strum their instruments makes me feel such a burst of energy build inside of me. I feel exhilarated and happy and ahhhhh I love them.

They are amazing, give them a listen if you have yet to do so. ♥

I haven't been able to buy a calendar yet, and since I'm terrible at judging the span of time, lately I've felt like this:

A bit oblivious to the world! Except, instead of turning around to see a surprise!koala at my back, its suddenly a different day of the week than I thought it was. It like my brain is day or two ahead of what it actually is.

But is that not a cute gif? Kyu is the cutest thing ever, even when he's all spacey. ♥

This post's link list will be on the short side because I've been incredibly lazy lately about keeping track of stuff I've come across that I've liked.

× Video: LocoRoco title theme played with a harmonica. The harmonica part actually ends around 0:45, and that's when the video gets really cute. The girl starts singing, and, oh god, it immediately put a smile on my face. Lyrics for those who want to sing along. :D

× The above video was found on this post of video game music on youtube from Bitmob. My other favorites besides the LocoRoco one are the girl playing Still Alive on the ukulele and Dr. Robotnik's theme played on the accordion.

× Video: After School's Because of You MV. I LOVE THIS SONG. Love it so much. I adore seeing them do this song in music programs, such as here on Inkigayo on January third, since the choreography just makes the song even more incredible.

× This sonogram looks like Dry Bones! You know, that skeleton Koopa Troopa?

× Speaking of Koopa Troopa,
here's a Koopa Troopa guitar. Awesome.

× Interesting links found via [personal profile] mklutz:
× A sprite t-shirt design called 8-bit Virgin Mary shows Princess Peach as the Virgin of Guadalupe. Its pretty cool looking.

Normally I wait until I have a bunch of links collected before putting them together into a rec post, but this video is just far too cute to wait on sharing. So I'm giving it its very own post, haha!

Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

♥ Mario Kart-inspired love song ♥

Everything from the awesome and sweet lyrics, the guy's soothing voice, and even the yarn mustache taped to his face (ha!) really puts a smile to my face. ♥
